International Women’s Day (which is on March 8th this year) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
International Women’s Day (IWD) has occurred for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people.
Today inspirational women can behind found in every aspect of our lives, from our teachers at school to doctors and our own mothers and grandmothers.

Over the last few decades, women have seen a greater presence within businesses. We now have some amazing women, that you may or may not know, within the working world that have done amazing things!
Karren Brady
Most of us know Ms Brady as being Lord Sugar’s right-hand lady and trusted aide on the Apprentice, but you may not know she is also a vice-chairperson at West Ham United Football Club. Having been a prominent figure in UK business for over 20 years, Karren also has an MBA course named after her to help others achieve the same success she has had.
As well as being a life peer in the House of Lords (her title is now officially Baroness Brady) she is also a wife and mother, and she balances it all with strength and poise.
Charlotte Pearce
Charlotte is one of Forbes’ 30 under 30 for 2017 showcasing her someone to watch out for in the business world! At the age of 21, she started her company Inkpact, a business that puts human connection at the heart business by writing handwritten company to company notecards and letters.
She also hosts a YouTube series and a podcast uncovering the real human and emotional side of the world’s most successful entrepreneurs.

Deborah Meaden
Deborah is best known for her time on Dragon’s Den, where she has invested over £2m in 34 businesses since 2006 when she first took up her throne in the ‘Den’. Deborah has been involved in business for almost 40 years, during which time she has been involved in a number of successful enterprises; including a multimillion-pound family holiday business.
Rachel Flanagan
After deciding not to attend university, Rachael Flanagan became a self-employed cleaner. After using flyers to advertise her services, and with some clever marketing, Rachel became so busy that she had to employ someone to help.
Today, her cleaning company employs over 250 people throughout Bristol and Cardiff. She also works with small businesses, helping the next generation of owners and entrepreneurs reach a similar success level.
